About NYSN

A network, knowledge, and skills

by Jewish New Yorkers, for Jewish New Yorkers

The New York Solidarity Network is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(4) membership organization that empowers Jewish New Yorkers to effectively engage in state and local public life.

Through education, a values-driven community, and collaborative action, we help our members protect the safety, dignity, and future of Jewish life in New York.

Who we are

We’re a membership organization, not a foundation, not a campaign committee, not a legacy institution speaking on behalf of anyone. We’re Jewish New Yorkers who decided that the city we love would be a better place if more of us showed up to shape it, together.

NYSN was founded in 2022 with 25 members, and we now have thousands of supporters across the five boroughs and beyond, with a growing network of community leaders, donors, and engaged citizens who treat civic life as a Jewish value, not a side project.

What we do

NYSN helps Jewish New Yorkers understand what’s happening in state and local government, who to support, and how to make an impact — together.
Practically, that means:

Research, polling, and education

on the issues most relevant to Jewish New Yorkers, translated into plain English and shared with our members.

Candidate briefings and recommendations for

state and local primaries, based on careful, nonpartisan vetting of the issues our community cares about.

Trainings and workshops

that build civic skills — from how a community board works, to how to talk to your assemblymember, to how to volunteer effectively in a campaign.

Voter registration and turnout

programs that meet Jewish New Yorkers where they live.

Events and convenings

that build a supportive and fun social network.

Our mission

The New York Solidarity Network brings Jewish New Yorkers together to shape state and local politics. Our community has a voice—together, we make it heard.

We are the practical, nonpartisan home for Jewish New Yorkers who want to engage in the city and state we share—thoughtfully, effectively, and in community. NYSN equips our members with the network, knowledge, and tools to show up with confidence at the ballot box and make a real impact in New York’s civic life.

Our values

Nonpartisan, by design.

NYSN does not endorse political parties. Instead, we engage where decisions are most often made—in primary elections that shape New York’s political landscape. Our goal is simple: ensure Jewish New Yorkers have clear, trusted information to participate meaningfully in the democratic process, regardless of political affiliation.

Broad-tent, on purpose.

Reform, Conservative, Orthodox, Reconstructionist, Renewal, secular, just-Jewish-ish. Manhattan and Queens, the Bronx and Brooklyn, and Staten Island. We’re not interested in litigating which kind of Jewish counts; the answer is that we all count.

Coalition-minded.

Jewish New Yorkers don’t live alone in this city, and we don’t win alone either. We work alongside Black, Latino, and Asian American partners who share a stake in a New York that’s safe, affordable, and democratic.

Practical first.

We measure ourselves by whether our members feel more informed, more connected, and more effective — not by press releases.

How we're built

NYSN is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization. Membership dues fund our operations. Members make their own decisions about whether and how to support specific candidates and causes; NYSN provides the research and the recommendations, and our members do the rest.
