For more than six months, I’ve been a part of over a dozen Jewish communal WhatsApp groups that sprouted up around the 2025 New York City election. Before the June primary, these groups were hives of activity: organizing, canvassing, and working on other campaign-related volunteer activities. And others simply remained places for people to vent.
After the primary, these groups grew even larger, but lacked cohesion or direction and often spun into despair and defeat. Jewish New Yorkers could not believe what was happening around them, but were unable to channel their fears and frustration.
But, here’s the thing: New York’s Jewish community is not powerless. The New York Solidarity Network (NYSN) exists for this moment. Our members fund good people, make informed decisions about who to vote for, and push back against the DSA’s normalization of antisemitism in New York. As I told The Forward: “A lot of Jews in New York are now awake, due to their anxiety about Mamdani. We need to have more participation. And I think we’re going to get it.”
I know there is a real feeling in our community right now to do something. Drop this link to join NYSN in your WhatsApp group today and be a part of working together to be a force against the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) in New York.
Wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving,
