Letter from the Executive Director | June

Since October 7, 2023, our community has experienced a deep and lasting unease. We’ve watched in horror as antisemitism has surged in New York City and beyond. We have experienced overt, brazen and false attacks on our institutions, as well as violent manifestations of hate in the streets. Perhaps even more disturbing has been the rise in socially-acceptable antisemitism. From casual dismissals of Jewish students’ pain to public figures refusing to acknowledge our right to exist, we have been met with indifference where there should have been solidarity.

But, as always, there is a hopeful lesson from the past: when Jews engage, we make change. That’s why the June 2025 New York City elections matter so deeply.

Jewish New Yorkers have always been a part of the City’s soul. From organizing for justice, building businesses and skyscrapers, educating generations and caring for the vulnerable, we are an integral community to New York’s past, present and future. Now is the time we must organize and perform the most critical of civic duties: to vote.

There is a strength in just showing up. There is hope in casting a ballot. And there is power in a unified front that refuses to allow hate to define our destiny. This time our votes are a declaration that we are still here, still proud and still determined to shape the future of New York City.

Beginning tomorrow, June 14, it’s time for New York’s Jewish community to stand together at the ballot box. Not out of fear, but out of pride, resilience and a belief that our voices still matter in New York.

Am Yisrael, Chai!
